Advanced Child Development

This is a great course for any student interested in pursuing a career in education, healthcare, or working with children in any capacity (daycare, babysitting, coaching,  parenting, etc...).

This year long course teaches students about the growth and development that occurs from pregnancy through adolescence. Students may take this their freshman year or later alongside Principles of Teaching. Students will learn about healthy pregnancies, complications, birth defects, and will even have the opportunity to wear a pregnancy sympathy belly. Students will also learn how to properly care for children from birth to age thirteen. They will learn typical behaviors for every stage of development and how to respond appropriately. Students will have the opportunity to bring a real care baby simulator home for a weekend to experience life with a baby. This is a wonderful course that teaches students valuable skills they can use in their future daily and/or professional lives.
