SCHS Academy of Finance students created this board game of 50 locally founded companies in Southern Indiana and Louisville, Kentucky.
Games are currently available for sale at the following locations:
Indiana: Silver Creek High School, Schimpff's Candy, PC Lumber
Kentucky: Kizito Cookies, Louisville Bats Team Store, Rite Way Equipment
Students had to set up appointments with business owners, visit those companies, and give sales pitch to sponsor a property space on the board. Local financial institutions sponsored various money denominations. Local entrepreneurs were excited to meet and work with the students. Students also included a QR code on each property space and money denomination; when the QR is scanned, it takes the user to the company's webpage so that the user can learn more about the history of that company. Graphic Design work on the board and boxtop was created by SCHS graduate Jason Koetter who is a successful graphic designer and recipient of the Kentucky Derby Festival Poster contest.
Once the property spaces and money denominations were all sponsored, students sent the information to be printed into board games. Students ordered 1000 games. The original edition of the game: Kentuckianaopoly showcased 50 different companies and raised over $20,000 in scholarships for our students.
Students are currently selling the new verison Kentuckianaopoly 2 games and expect to raise over $30,000 for scholarships.
